白瀧周

通常、木工作品は数ヶ月かけて十分に乾燥させた材を用いますが、あえて乾燥させていない「生木（なまき）」を削り出し、加工後に乾燥させる手法をとっています。
乾燥の過程で生まれる、予測不可能な歪みや縮み。
その自然な変化を「景色」として捉えた造形は、漆の質感と相まって、静かで凛とした佇まいを感じさせます。


1992　神奈川県に生まれる
保育園勤務を経たのち、2021年に退職
森林文化アカデミーにて木工を学ぶ

卒業後ナカジマウッドターニングスタジオにて技術を磨き
2025年 神奈川にて独立

Shu Shirataki

While typical woodworking uses wood that has been thoroughly dried for several months, Mr. Shirataki deliberately carves shapes out of “green wood" (undried wood) then dries them afterwards.
He incorporates unpredictable warping and shrinkage that occur naturally during the drying process as "landscapes.” The resulting forms, combined with the texture of lacquer, evoke a quiet yet dignified presence.
