Kazuya Nakamura
Based in the tranquil seaside corner of Ise, Mie Pref., Mr. Nakamura creates his works by reusing glass bottles of locally beloved soda drinks.
The glass retains a subtle bluish tint and a watery transparency, carrying with it a faint sense of nostalgia. The pieces are meticulously crafted yet have natural contours with very subtle ripples and flows, and the mesmerizing shadows created by the thickness of the glass give each piece distinct expression only achievable by skillful hand-craft.
Retaining fragments of memory from Ise as they embrace new lights and blend into different life scenes in various places - the beauty of Mr. Nakamura’s works lies in their organic flow and tides.
1978 Born in Futami, Ise City, Mie Pref.
Graduated from a local junior high school and the Ise Technical High School.
Worked in a local manufacturer but eventually moved to Okinawa, mesmerised by its beauty
Came across the "ryukyu glass" and trained under the glass atelier "Seiten"
